Untangling the Web: How Social Media Affects Mental Health (50 min.)
Caregivers experience the pull social media has on their children. Despite the positive aspects, research supports the association between excessive use and heightened risks of mental health issues. This content supports parents searching to find a healthy balance.
In this presentation, caregivers will learn:
- Current trends in social media use
- Positive and negative impacts of social media
- Strategies to support children while using these platforms
Trauma-Informed Care for Parents (50 min.)
Adverse childhood experiences, or ACES, impact nearly half of children under the age of 18. The aftermath of this trauma can manifest in many ways. This video empowers caregivers with knowledge and tools to support their children at home and to set them up for success in school.
In this presentation, caregivers will learn:
- What constitutes “trauma” and the principles of Trauma Systems Therapy
- The impact of ACES on youth
- Strategies to foster resilience and recovery
- Practices to create a sense of safety at home
Emotional Regulation: Starting and Ending the Day (50 min.)
Preparation for student learning begins at home. By helping them maintain an emotionally regulated state, our children will be best prepared to learn, socialize, and navigate challenges after they arrive at school.
In this presentation, caregivers will learn:
- How to define and recognize the signs of emotional regulation
- The significant role that being regulated has in the learning process
- Parenting practices that promote student self-regulation
- What to do when our children are feeling dysregulated
Helping Your Family Better Manage Stress and Anxiety (50 min.)

For a variety of reasons, anxiety in our country is on the rise. By sharing how to help manage these feelings with parents, we best support our community of learners.

Working Together to Address School Avoidance (35 min.)
A child’s refusal to attend school can be a significant source of anxiety and conflict for a family. This presentation acknowledges their experience and helps create a school-home team approach when tackling the issue.
In this presentation, caregivers will learn:
- Short and long-term consequences of unaddressed school refusal
- The range of school-avoidant behaviors
- How to recognize the early warning signs and intervene
- How parents and school staff can help students re-engage in school
Talking to your Kids about Drugs & Alcohol (50 min.)
Building strong parent-child communication is a protective factor against substance abuse. Yet caregivers are often unsure of how to address the topic of substance abuse. This video provides the tools they need to get started.

Understanding LGBTQIA+ to Maintain Positive Relationships (50 min.)
Research shows that LGBTQIA+ youth are more likely to experience anxiety and depression. They are also at a higher risk for suicide. This presentation shares resources and outlines proactive steps parents can take to help youth maintain good mental health.

- How aspects of childhood development relate to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression
